Earn money for every business you refer

You’ll earn:

• $1,000 listing bonus: paid in the calendar quarter after your referral’s listing goes live on Baton.

• Success fee share: 10% of the success fee Baton actually receives, paid within 30 days after the end of the quarter in which their sale closes.

Timing can vary depending on the deal and when it closes.

Once your referral qualifies for a reward, our team will follow up with you directly to arrange payment. Payouts can be issued via ACH, wire transfer, bank transfer, or another approved method.

You’re welcome to refer any business owner who meets the eligibility criteria for our program. We have taken on companies of all sizes, ranging from $1M in value to $25M and up.

For the reward to apply, the owner also needs to get started with Baton within six months of your referral. If they don’t qualify, you can still refer them, but the reward won’t apply. Please review the full referral program terms for more details.

Anyone can be a referrer whether you’re an individual, business owner, accountant, advisor, broker, or just someone who knows a business owner thinking about selling.

There’s no formal partnership or license required, and you don’t need to work at Baton. The only exception is that referrers must not have any legal, fiduciary, or contractual obligation that would prevent them from referring a business or sharing the owner’s information with us.

If you’re unsure about your specific situation (for example, you’re a professional advisor under certain confidentiality agreements), it’s best to get consent from the business owner before submitting a referral.

Nope! There’s no cap on the number of referrals you can make. Each one is reviewed on its own, so you earn the $1,000 listing bonus every time a referral’s listing goes live on Baton, plus a share of our success fee on any that go on to sell.

Absolutely. You can send multiple referrals by emailing your list to [email protected]. Each business will be reviewed individually to ensure they meet the program criteria.

You still earn the $1,000 listing bonus. That’s paid once your referral’s listing goes live on Baton, whether or not the business ends up selling. The success fee share is the part that depends on a completed sale, so that portion wouldn’t apply. And you’re always welcome to refer again in the future.

No. Just fill out the referral form with your contact info and theirs. After you submit your first referral, you'll get access to a partner dashboard (powered by Partner.io) where you can track the status of your referrals and payouts.

Referrals need to be new to Baton. Rewards don’t apply if the owner is already under contract with us when you refer them, or if we’ve been in conversation with them during the six months before your referral. If you’re not sure, send them over anyway and we’ll check.

The success fee share applies to sales that close within two years of your referral. The $1,000 listing bonus isn’t affected by timing — it’s earned as soon as their listing goes live. Our M&A team is here to help them navigate the process and avoid delays.
